Sales
After nine months of the year sales stood at €433.7
million, down 2.6% on the same period last year, after reaching
€139.7 million for the quarter itself, a drop of 1.3%.
France was down by 3.7% for the nine-month period
and by 2.0% for the third quarter. International sales were down
by 1.0% for the nine months and by 0.4% for the quarter.
The third quarter fall reflects contrasting changes
from the start to the end of the period and actually hides an upswing
during the last two months. The Autumn-Winter season ended under
difficult conditions (as the market continued to perform badly)
and business remained slow through January. However, it picked up
significantly in February when the Spring-Summer collections were
introduced, a trend that continued through March.
Other news
When presenting the accounts for the first half year,
it was stated that second half results were forecast to increase
compared to the same period last year. The expected growth, however,
would not be sufficient to compensate for the decline in the first
half.
The level of business and cost trends during the
third quarter lead us to confirm this forecast.
