1953
Establishment of Damart with Thermolactyl underwear.
First mail order catalogues sent out.
   
1957
Opening of the first Damart store in Paris.
 
1966
Extension of product ranges to include new articles:
Socks/Hosiery,
Corsetry,
Ready-to-wear clothing.
 
1973
After 20 years' of business, Damart has 1,250,000 customers and a network of 22 stores in France.
 
1976
Went public, listed on the Paris Stock Exchange.
 
1979
Establishment of Damart Japan.
 
1980
The number of active customers in France exceeded the 2,000,000 mark. Damart articles distributed in 33 stores.
 
1985
Establishment of the "Damart Group" with the acquisition of Somfy.
Damart SA became a holding company with two areas of business:

Clothing and personal articles (Damart).
Motors and controls for building shading and closure systems (Somfy).
 
1987
Setup of new establishments to service the increased mail order activity, with a capacity of 50,000 parcels per day.
 
1993
Establishment of a sub-holding company, DISA, to combine the foreign subsidiaries of the Damart activity (UK, Belgium, Switzerland, etc.).
 
1996
Development of the lingerie range: association of Thermolactyl with silk, Lycra®, wool and cotton.
 
1998
Launch of the new self-service concept for Damart stores with a customer advisory section. Extension of this concept to the entire network of stores in France and abroad.
 
2001
Opening of the 62nd store in France.
 
2002
Damart and Somfy became two independent branches.
Damart representing the clothing and personal articles activity, now called Damartex.
Damartex went public and was listed on the Paris Euronext second market on 3 July 2002.
 
2003
Damart's fiftieth anniversary.
130 stores in Europe and 10 million active customers in its catalogue files.
